Terms of service
Draft, last updated 2026-10-04
These terms are the agreement between you and ox for ox Cloud (getox.in) and the ox command-line tool. By signing in, you accept them. If you use ox for a company, you accept them for that company. Questions: [email protected].
1. What ox is
ox deploys your repositories onto servers that you rent and own. ox Cloud is the hosted control plane. A small agent runs on your server and carries out what you ask. Your apps, databases and data run on your server, not on ox's.
2. The beta
ox is in beta. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without promises of uptime, features, or that it is free of bugs or data loss. It can change, break or be withdrawn. Keep your own backups of anything that matters, and test restores.
3. Your account
- You sign in with GitHub. Keep your GitHub account secure: anyone who controls it controls your ox account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, your tokens and your servers.
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 16.
4. Your servers, code and content
- You are responsible for your servers: renting them, paying for them, their security, their updates, their backups, and the account you hold with your hosting company. ox changes settings on a server you connect (a firewall, SSH hardening, packages, Caddy, services). Connect only servers you are free to change.
- You are responsible for your code, your apps, your data and your users. You own them. ox gets only the rights needed to run the service for you, such as reading your repositories and running your deploys.
- You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your apps and the personal data they handle. Where ox acts for you on that data, see the privacy policy.
- You must have the right to deploy what you deploy, and to use the software, licences and third-party services in it.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use ox to:
- host or share illegal content, or content that infringes others' rights;
- send spam, run phishing, scams, malware or botnets;
- attack, scan or disrupt other people's systems, or ox's;
- mine cryptocurrency, or run proxies, anonymisers or similar services on others' behalf, unless you have agreed it with ox;
- try to get around ox's limits, security or isolation between accounts, or look at another account's data;
- use ox in a way that harms its other customers or its infrastructure.
6. Suspension and termination
- ox may suspend or end an account, or stop access to a server or project, if it reasonably believes you broke these terms, or to protect people, ox, or others. Where it can, ox will tell you first and say why.
- You can stop using ox at any time: delete your projects, forget your servers, run
ox uninstallon them, and remove the ox GitHub App from your GitHub account. You can delete your account yourself in Settings (or withox account delete) once you have no servers left, and download your data first; the privacy policy says what is deleted and what is kept. - ox may end the beta or the service. It will give you reasonable notice where it can. Because your apps run on your own servers, your apps keep running if ox stops; only deploying and managing them through ox stops.
- After termination, what each side keeps is as the privacy policy says. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 4, 8, 9 and 10) do.
7. Price and billing
ox Cloud is free during the beta. Billing is not built, and ox holds no payment details. After the beta ox expects to charge about $8–12 per month per server, or on a usage basis. That is an estimate, not an offer. ox will announce the final pricing before the beta ends and give notice before anything is charged, and you will be able to stop before then without paying. Your cloud company and any other service you use bill you separately.
8. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, ox gives no warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement. ox does not promise that a deploy will succeed, that a backup can be restored, or that your server will stay reachable. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions; where that is so, they apply only as far as the law permits.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ox is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, or for downtime of your apps or servers, even if told it was possible. ox's total liability for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of what you paid ox in the 12 months before the claim (nothing, during the beta) and USD 100. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. You and ox
- You will cover ox's losses from a third-party claim that arises from your code, your content, or your breach of section 5, to the extent the law allows.
- ox may change these terms. For a change that matters, ox will tell you before it takes effect, and using ox after that is accepting it. If you do not agree, stop using ox.
- These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and ox about the service. If one part cannot be enforced, the rest stays.
- Software ox gives you (the
oxcommand-line tool and the agent) is licensed to you only to use with ox Cloud.
11. Governing law and disputes
ox is operated by Saurav Sharma in India. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the competent courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them or about ox.
Wherever you live, the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your own country still apply.
